Merlin's puppet is GONE! Go finish it. Show us your loyalty, Morgana!
~ Bellroc telling Morgana to show her loyalty to the Arcane Order after killing her brother, King Arthur in front of her.
IT… IS… TIME!!!
~ Bellroc unlocking the Genesis Seals alongside Skrael and Nari.
LET THE EARTH BEGIN ANEW!
~ Bellroc as they unleash the Fire Titan.

Bellroc is the main antagonist of the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as one of the two unseen overarching antagonists (alongside King Arthur) of the first installment Trollhunters, an unseen antagonist in the second installment 3Below, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Skrael) of the third installment Wizards and the main antagonist of the fourth and final installment Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.

They are the leader of an ancient cult known as the Arcane Order, who created the universe using the Titans as their handmaidens, and was originally set on restoring the balance between magickind and mankind in their own eyes, but eventually decided to wipe out the universe and remake the world by unlocking the Genesis Seals and unleashing the Titans. They are also Douxie Casperan and Nari's archenemy and Jim Lake Jr.'s second archenemy, as well as Morgana's former master and King Arthur and Skrael's master.

Their male voice was voiced by Piotr Michael, who also voiced Skrael, while their female voice was voiced by Kay Bess.

What Makes Them Pure Evil?[]

  • Although they founded the Arcane Order and created the universe with the intention of making it to be a paradise for all life and restore the balance between magic and mortals, it is frequently shown that they have narcissistic standards as they are happily willing to abuse the balance, be it through having humans and mortals in general wiped out by destroying creation itself and deleting them, or completely disregarding every other element such as ice, water, Earth and nature, just so they can create a hellish wasteland of fire.
  • After Nari resurrected Morgana, Bellroc, alongside Skreal, used the latter as a pawn, plotting with her to kill her mentor, Merlin, and her brother, King Arthur, by using a Changeling to infiltrate Camelot in an act of terrorism.
  • During the Battle of Killahead Bridge, they decided to intervene out of their own impatience, massacring dozens of knights.
  • They killed Arthur right in front of Morgana during the Battle of Killahead Bridge, much to her horror, and coldly ordered her to prove her loyalty to the Order.
  • Despite them claiming later on that the world was intended to be a paradise from the beginning, Bellroc makes it even more clear that they do not care about it being a paradise when they attack Deya the Deliverer head-on despite her being a troll, telling her that she means nothing to them or Skrael.
  • Although Nari attempted to show them that the Arcane Order were all in the wrong, Bellroc told her that they will rise again instead of listening, thus refusing to change their ways.
    • This eventually led them to their new goal to destroy the universe and remake the Earth by using her to open the Genesis Seals and unleash the Titans alongside Skrael following Morgana's half-measures, hence why Nari renounced the Arcane Order.
  • They resurrected King Arthur from his death and used him as the Arcane Order's new “champion”. Due to their and Skrael's influence, Arthur came to the illogical conclusion that helping them destroy the universe and remake the Earth is the true gateway to redemption, and willingly became the notorious Green Knight.
    • Considering they killed Arthur mere seconds before his true redemption, Bellroc is solely responsible for Arthur becoming a much more depraved villain and responsible for all his horrendous crimes as the Green Knight.
  • During the 21st century, they attack Camelot alongside Skrael and the Green Knight to take Nari by force, and when Nari uses her magic to create a time rift to the 12th century, the three destroy the Heart of Avalon, causing Camelot to crash into and destroy Arcadia Oaks High though Douxie, Jim, Claire, and Steve manage to get through the time rift.
  • Even so, the Guardians of Arcadia refuse to surrender Nari to Bellroc and Skrael, so they sic the Green Knight on them, who enslaves Jim's soul by forcing him to turn into a full troll and trapping his soul in the Shadow Realm.
  • They release Morgana from the Shadow Realm alongside Skrael simply because she could be useful to their and Skrael's new plan to remake the world, refusing to send her back to the Shadow Realm even when she tells them how calm and peaceful it was in there.
  • When they discover that Archie was disguising himself as Nari when he came inside their fortress with Douxie and Merlin, Bellroc attempts to use fire magic to kill the three before giving off a long monologue towards Douxie, Merlin, and Archie about the Arcane Order waiting to destroy them.
    • During the said monologue, Bellroc reveals that they and Skrael have been gathering and waiting to undo everything. This shows that while they still intend on remaking the Earth, they are committed to destroying the rest of the universe permanently.
  • While they did tell Skrael to stop torturing Steve, it is only because they were being interrupted by Steve's obnoxious screaming, not out of any moral standards.
  • They and Skrael threaten Merlin that if he doesn't give up the real Nari to them, then they'll have the corrupted Jim kill Douxie.
  • They infiltrate Hex Tech alongside Skrael and the Green Knight and abduct all of the Guardians of Arcadia that are there, and threaten Claire that they will burn her to ash if she doesn't give them Douxie's location.
  • Even after being defeated by Douxie, they remain relentless in finding Nari because they and Skrael have now gained the Genesis Seals and need her with them so the three of them can break them so they can finally succeed in destroying everything and remaking the world as they see fit.
  • During the continued search for Nari, Bellroc kills an innocent seagull who doesn't pose any threat towards them out of her own spite for other lifeforms.
  • Once they capture Nari, Bellroc threatens Douxie that if he doesn't let Nari go, then they'll use their fire magic to kill dozens of civilians caught in the resulting crossfire, and though they do spare them when he lets her go, it is only because they are satisfied with what they wanted, and was going to kill them anyway upon remaking the world, thus making it dishonorable.
  • Upon discovering that the Genesis Seals were not destroyed because Douxie swapped bodies with Nari, Bellroc tortures them both alongside Skrael by enacting a spell that forces them back into their original selves. They then destroy the Genesis Seals alongside Skrael, unleashing the Titans upon the Earth.
  • They mind-control Nari into turning back to evil once again and use her to unleash the Earth Titan from Brazil. While controlling Nari, Bellroc kills Nomura when she, Douxie, and AAARRRGGHH!!! try to stop her.
  • They use the Fire Titan to become a global threat to the public through a few acts of terrorism and destruction, all of which mark them as having the highest direct body count out of all the characters in the entire series, those being:
    1. Bursting through an area with dozens of ships in the South China Sea as they unleash the Fire Titan, killing the dozens of fishermen onboard while announcing their plot to remake the Earth.
    2. Killing six Chinese military pilots when they try to kill them and the Fire Titan, with the flaming jets crashing down to the shoreline and sending the public into widespread panic.
    3. Crashing the Gun Robot Megasuit piloted by Varvatos Vex into Stone Carver Bridge when he blocks their path to the other side, causing it to collapse and drown hundreds of civilians on it to their deaths in a massive tsunami.
    4. This also causes Charlemagne and Archie to be trapped in the TrollDragon kingdom, with no way of escaping.
  • Upon traveling to Arcadia upon the Fire Titan once again, they attempt to connect it to the Heartstone despite Skrael and Nari being nowhere to be seen due to them being dead by the time, making it even more clear that they no longer care about the balance between magic and mortal, and now want to reduce the universe into nothingness and use the Fire Titan to remake the Earth as a lifeless, volcanic planet.
  • When the Guardians of Arcadia make one final stand against them, Bellroc attempts to kill them all at once, also resulting in Toby's death when he uses the Trifurcate Radiation Blaster against them to make them powerless.
  • Though Bellroc tells Jim to spend his final moments with his friends and family, they are only doing it to convince him to give up trying to stop them, and when he tells them that he'll continue fighting them anyway, Bellroc attempts to kill him on the spot while mocking him for not being a hero without an amulet or armor.
  • Even after Jim gave them a chance to give up on them goals, Bellroc refuses and stabs Jim with their broken staff and makes one last attempt to destroy the universe, which is foiled when they are in range of the Trifurcate Radiation Blaster and finally killed by Jim.

Trivia[]

  • Out of all the Pure Evil villains in the Tales of Arcadia franchise, they have the highest direct body count.
  • In a post on Discord, Aaron Waltke says that Bellroc's greatest fear is magickind being erased and forgotten from history. If this was executed in canon, it would show that they did care for magical beings aside from themself, and therefore would've disqualified them from being Pure Evil.
    • However, it's possible that Waltke's statement wasn't acknowledged or hinted at by the creative team behind the franchise because, in the movie, Bellroc tries to destroy the universe and then remake the Earth, so any inhabitant of the universe would have perished had they succeeded in their goals so, therefore, there would be no one left to remember magickind.
  • Bellroc is indirectly mentioned in the non-canon game Trollhunters: Defenders of Arcadia where the Arcane Order's "champion", Morgana, serves as the main antagonist. However, due to their lack of screen time, Bellroc isn't considered Pure Evil in that version.
  • In the climax, it is implied that Bellroc was going to kill Jim anyway without letting him return to his loved ones as they mock him about dying alone when he says that he will continue to fight their. If this is confirmed, it would make Bellroc even worse.
