Leon Jefferson III, also known as Bats, is the secondary antagonist of Edgar Wright's 2017 action/crime film Baby Driver.

He is an impulsive and violent criminal and a member of the gang of crime boss Doc, as well as Baby's arch-rival.

He was portrayed by Jamie Foxx.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • It was already known that he had a criminal record, with his mugshot being shown during the report of his death. Plus, he was already a very dangerous individual to begin with, even going as far as to constantly intimidate Baby throughout.
  • While he did joined up Doc's crew to take part of several robberies in Atlanta, its very unlikely that Bats cares about wealth, but rather, he only joined up to wreak havoc and cause as much mayhem as possible, not caring about the overall outcome.
  • Murdered JD for leaving his shotgun in one of the cars they stole to escape from the authorities. Although JD did deserved this for his incompetence, it was clearly pragmatic because Bats didn't want the authorities to find out and had Doc order Baby to dispose of him.
  • Attempts to steal the car with the Baby inside, insisting Baby to go, regardless that it would've led to kidnapping. Luckily, Baby gave the baby back to the mother.
  • Shot and killed the cashier inside the gas station, robbing at least a dozen gum inside.
  • Was about to kill Deborah before Baby stopped him, which only made him even more dangerous. Even Buddy and Darling were becoming unnerved by Bats' increasingly violent nature.
  • Upon discovering Baby's tape recorder, he confronts him with Buddy inside the car. He then knocks him out by punching him in the face, breaking into his home, brutally beating Joseph, who is a deaf and disabled elderly man and then playing around in Joseph’s wheelchair, leaving him lying on the floor back the apartment.
  • Fatally shot a security guard to death, who did nothing to provoke him other than pure sadism on Bats' end.
  • When Baby hesitates after the post office robbery, Bats threatens to shoot Baby with a shotgun, which led to his deserved demise when Baby drove the car straight into the back of the truck, impaling him with rebars through the windshield.
  • Although Buddy became the main antagonist and going as far as to try and kill Baby, its only out of wanting to avenge his love interest Darling, with Doc having eventually redeemed himself before being killed by Buddy. On the other hand, Bats clearly lacks any and all redeeming qualities, as for his reason to join up Doc and his crew was because he wants to commit as much crimes as possible regardless of the consequences and cares less about earning wealth, and has much fewer resources than the others as well.
