I'm Barracuda. Thing most muthaf-ckas find out a little too late.
~ Barracuda's catchphrase.
So you go ahead an' scream, homes. You beg. You plead. Music to my muthaf-ckin' ears...
~ Barracuda with Frank Castle and his infant daughter in his custody.

Barracuda is the Punisher's archenemy in Marvel's MAX variant of comics. He is a mercenary gangster of great physical strength, endurance, fighting ability, and exceptional intelligence. He shows an incredible sense of optimism and "glass half full" thinking, profane humor, and a tendency to betray anyone if he can benefit from it.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Although he was physically abused by his alcoholic father and bullied a lot as a child, it doesn't excuse his actions because he decided to vent his rage out on the rest of the world. The flashbacks of his past were played for horror at his actions, not sympathy.
  • While he is capable of forming genuine bonds with other people, he always manages to discard them one way or the other. To be specific:
    • His brother and sister: Auditory flashbacks indicate that he protected them from their abusive father when he was young, and he claims to have raised both all by himself. However, he doesn't look back fondly on them in the present, apathetic at how his brother died and his sister became a crack whore.
    • Chris Angelone and Leopoldo Luna: He was business partners with them for several years, but he ends up betraying and indirectly killing them both in hopes of taking over Santa Morricone and making enough money to hunt the Punisher.
    • Fifty-Fifty: They were good friends since the Contra War, but 'Cuda shows zero remorse in leaving him to die when he stays behind for the others to escape Santa Morricone, even calling him "dumbass" out of earshot as he does so.
    • Oswald Angelone: He was very protective of him during his quest to overthrow Big Chris and Luna, giving him advice on how to become more badass and flirt with women despite his condition, giving him an affectionate nickname, and even saving him from a pedophile priest. However, when 'Cuda accidentally kills Oswald by hitting his back too hard (since he's a hemophiliac), he shows no remorse for it and only complains that he's not gonna get any money now.
  • Flashbacks show that, when he was a child, he gouged a school bully's eyes out and then castrated an attempted rapist while in military school. While both were terrible people, his response was not appropriate for the situation. He also once snorted lines of cocaine off a decapitated head.
  • While working with the Contras in 1984, he personally led the kidnapping, torture, rape, and all-out massacre of thousands of people in Nicaragua. He even cut out a pregnant woman's fetus and then stomped on it and kicked a decapitated child at Nick Fury just to show how little dishonoring the American uniform meant to him.
  • He's a rapist, having victimized at least two other men in prison, including Jonathan Digby. He also sodomizes a gangster with the barrel of his own revolver.
  • He's a proud cannibal, having feasted on an African tribal chief's brother after his remains were cooked to look like jambalaya. It's also implied that he'll eat Wanda Lube at the end of his spinoff miniseries, since there's no food or survival gear on their raft.
  • One time when he was in prison, he mutilated Harry Ebbing's two attempted rapists by cutting out their eyeballs and then replacing them with the other one's testicles before sewing their eyelids shut. Both men survived this, making it a fate worse than death.
  • He sadistically throws the Punisher and an indebted gangster named Horace into the ocean with a great white shark instead of just shooting them, killing the latter.
  • He tortures and kills Yorkie Mitchell and his wife Angie in their own home.
  • He kidnaps the Punisher's infant daughter Sarah from a daycare center (where he also killed a woman who tried to stop him), planning to torture her to death in front of him for all the misery he's caused him. When that plan backfires, 'Cuda settles with simply boobytrapping Sarah’s seat with explosives in an attempt to kill them both instantly.
    • Frank even speculates that, judging from the look on Barracuda's face during his last moments alive, he'd cannibalize Sarah as well.
    • While he gets along with Sheriff Danby and jokes with him, there is nothing that proves that he cares for him.
  • Overall, he's easily the most heinous and depraved antagonist in the entire series. He has the most appearances, the biggest kill count, and despite having several funny lines and scenes, they do not detract from how vile he is.
