Baro is a minor antagonist in the anime and manga series Black Clover. He is a major antagonist in the Eye of The Midnight Sun Encounter arc. He is Neige's older brother and a Rogue mage affiliated with the Eye of the Midnight Sun who he allied with for his self-serving purpose of greed.
He is voiced by Genki Muro in Japanese (who also voiced Megicula in the same series) and Chris Rager in English.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He joined the Eye of the Midnight Sun out of greed instead of their cause.
- He is often abusive to his brother Neige due to his childish behavior and whenever he screws things up when things don't go his way, while also corrupting him into aiding his crimes.
- He had Neige brainwash the children in Nairn, hundreds of them, through his Snow Spell that placed them in a trance. When Neige didn't want to go through with it, Baro forced him to do it by insulting him.
- Was willing to leave Marco Scarlet, who was just a child, to be left in the snow just because he didn't have any mana while he was under Neige's spell, endangering his life and giving him frostbite as a result. Marco could've died if it weren't for Asta and Theresa Rapual saving him at the very last second.
- He began torturing several children by draining them of their mana in a torturous way, which permanently removed them from their potential magic entirely.
- He forced Neige to fight Asta and Gauche despite having no chance against them.
- At one point, he threatened Maria Adlei's life in front of Gauche to force him into dropping his guard down.
- When he was called out for his actions by Asta, instead of showing remorse, he boasted how he would've gotten rich from continuing his actions and laughed it off as what he's done to the children no longer having mana is "their problem".
- He tried to have Sally fight off the Magic Knight and later convinced her to free him so he could assist her, in actuality, he planned on abandoning her and Neige once he's been paid just to save his skin.
- While he does seem to at least care for Neige as children when he gave him a mud doll to cheer him up, it is likely because he was annoyed at his crying instead of genuinely trying to cheer him up. Even as an adult, Baro seems to subvert any care he had for him when he plots to abandon both his brother and Sally at the mercy of the Magic Knights.
- Unlike most members and those affiliated with the Eye of the Midnight Sun, Baro has no sympathetic qualities or a tragic background. While it is heavily implied that he and Neige were orphans at that time, he went past his excuse.
- It should be noted that while Baro became a mud monster and lost part of his humanity thanks to Sally, he was already a horrible person prior to this and it doesn't make him a scapegoat either due to his horrible actions on the children he abducted.
- Despite the high heinous standards in Black Clover, Baro stands out for having fewer resources.
Trivia[]
