I am a righteous man. Chosen of the Sun. But in times of need, the powers of shadow can accomplish what the Sun alone cannot.
~ Bahavas.
I had to come here myself! To end you suffering, Uthid-- and mine. The outlanders led us here. And now that they are dead, their price is most affordable. But enough with needles. It’s time for blades. Remove them from the Sun’s sight. Kill the traitor! Kill the Nora! The sun sets on your pathetic life, Uthid.
~ Bahavas gloating at Uthid.
I had to-- I had to! Prune the weak, or all the Carja in Shadow are doomed!
~ Bahavas' last words, before he is killed by Uthid.

Lucent Bahavas, also known as High Priest Bahavas, is a minor antagonist in the 2017 video game Horizon Zero Dawn. One of Jiran's champions, along with Helis, as well as a loyalist of Jiran's reign, Bahavas would later escape Meridian after Avad, Jiran's second son, overthrew his own father, forcing him and the rest of Jiran's loyalists to escape Sunfall during the events of Liberation, two years before the start of the game, thus forming the Shadow Carja in Sunfall. He serves as the archenemy of Uthid and Vanasha.

Along with Helis, Bahavas is one of the founders of the Shadow Carja cult known as the Eclipse, under HADES' servitude, the rogue 21st-Century AI, whose plan was to take over the Spire in the Alight, where the ancient MINERVA broadcast tower sits upon. He and Helis works as the de facto ruling powers of the splinter tribe.

Bahavas is voiced by Anthony Howell, who voiced Dervahl in the same game.

What Makes him Pure Evil?[]

  • He is ruthless and dishonourable, if not outright corrupt, as he ordered the culling of the tribe's poor residing in Shadowside within Sunfall through an assassin he hired, as means to purge them out, whom he considers them as incapable for their cause of retaking Meridian and Sundom from Avad.
  • He imprisons the young figurehead Shadow Carja king Itamen and his mother Nasadi in Sunfall, treating them as hostages rather than being the ruling powers of the tribe.
  • He released the assassin that Uthid had just caught, whom he ordered to commit the culling of the Shadow Carja's poor in Shadowside, and later decided to betray him and his soldiers, since he knew Uthid was the one responsible for uncovering his actions. He even went so far in putting a bounty on Uthid's head and even planned to assassinate Itamen, as a warning sign, and would take over the throne by force.
  • In his desperate act to justify his acts to Uthid, Bahavas would remorselessly and cowardly attempt to gloat as to how culling the weak within the tribe was the only way to make the Shadow Carja more powerful to achieve their own goal, before he was killed by him, without even showing any form of remorse to his own acts.
  • His loyalty towards Jiran and the Shadow Carja was only out of fanaticism, not out of any genuine loyalty.
  • His death at the hands of Uthid was not taken for sympathy.
