What a wonderful day this is! Though I fully intend on ripping you into pieces, allow me to first say 'Thank You'! After all, if it weren't for all those incredibly strong fighters you brought me, I wouldn't have been able to bring Majin Buu back to life!
~ Babidi.

Babidi is a major antagonist in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai, appearing as the main antagonist of the Babidi saga and the secondary antagonist of the Majin Buu saga.

He is an alien wizard and the son/clone of the wizard Bibidi, who awakened Majin Buu. He has the power to control anyone who has even a trace of evil inside them. His henchmen include Dabura, Pui Pui, Yakon, Yamu, Spopovich, several unnamed Zoonian soldiers and Vegeta (briefly). His actions resulted in trillions of deaths across Universe 7.

He was voiced by the late Joji Yanami and (currently) Bin Shimada in the original Japanese version. In the English dub, he is voiced by Terry Klassen, Duncan Brannan and Bill Townsley across various appearances.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Sends his brainwashed henchmen Spopovich and Yamu to collect Gohan's energy, which leads to Videl being beaten to near death by Spopovich.
  • Kills Spopovich and then has Pui Pui kill Yamu (even though Spopovich and Yamu completed their mission and surpassed Babidi's expectations) after they were of no further use to him.
  • Has Dabura kill Kibito and turn Krillin and Piccolo into stone in order to lure their friends into his spaceship and drain their energy.
  • Sends out most of his henchmen to kill Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Shin, showing no concern or care when they die.
  • Turns Vegeta into Majin Vegeta, leading to hundreds of deaths at Vegeta's hands.
  • Revived Majin Buu, which makes him responsible for the sheer amount of death and destruction that occurs later on.
  • Has Fat Buu kill Dabura, his loyal right-hand man, because he was no longer useful to him. And while Babidi applauds Fat Buu for doing his job well, it was only to encourage him to continue killing people.
  • Tried to kill Piccolo after he reverts back from being stone and hypocritically attempts to use the excuse that if Piccolo kills him, no one will be able to control Fat Buu and everything will be destroyed.
  • Made the head of someone who gave him the names of Piccolo, Goten and Trunks explode because he found the information to be useless.
    • Despite giving him the information he was looking for, Babidi also threatened to kill Idasam (Idasa and Ikose's mother) simply because he found her voice irritating.
  • Took enjoyment in having Fat Buu kill the people of Earth and destroy entire cities, all with the intention of luring Piccolo, Goten and Trunks out of hiding so he could have his revenge on them.
  • When asked by Goku to stop killing people, Babidi declares that he will have more people killed just to spite him.
  • Constantly insults and threatens to reseal Fat Buu whenever he doesn't obey him.
  • Intended to move on to other planets after he was done with Earth and have Buu kill those planets' entire populations as well.
  • Even after his brutal yet well-deserved death, his actions have caused the events of the rest of the Buu Saga.
  • Although he seems to care about his father Bibidi, speaks highly of him and wants to avenge his death at the hands of Shin, this form of love comes off as narcissism since Babidi is more of a clone than a son to Bibidi, shows that he only wants to avenge an extension of himself.
  • Even though he has a few comedic moments, his actions are still played for horror resulting in him being taken completely seriously.
  • Although he is seen rooting for Goku in his fight against Kid Buu while watching it in Hell, it's only because he wants to see Buu suffer for betraying and murdering him instead of being any form of gratefulness or redemption.
