Baba Shakti is the main antagonist of the 2024 action thriller film Monkey Man.
He was a tyrannical spiritual guru who, in his pursuit of wealth and power, was responsible for the destruction and genocide of numerous villages and non-hindu communities across India, including that of Kid/Monkey Man. Thus labeling him, alongside Rana Singh, as one of Kid's two archenemies to the film event.
He was portrayed by Makarand Deshpande.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- While he was once a street urchin living in perpetual poverty who climbed his way to his social status, this isn’t portrayed sympathetically are a justifiable excuse, as he uses it to oppress others who are in poverty like he once was, making it clear all he cared about is power and money.
- For many decades, in order to ensure power for himself and under the guise of a helpful guru trying to keep India cleanse, Baba has been working encouraging violence againts Hijra’s, transgender communities and non Hindu’s within the country, having police cheif Rana Singh conduct mass attacks while profiting off of Queenie Kapoor’s prostitution and drug trafficking.
- Ordered the mass wiping out of villages, having the police slaughter innocent people as they are pushed out of their homes and with the stolen land being used for complexes. Even worst, Baba would have the survivors of these villages be enslaved as workers without any pay or rights while justifying his actions to the public.
- His actions lead to the destruction of The Kid’s village, with his mother being brutally murdered by Rana and sending The Kid’s descent into revenge.
- Has personally funded and supported far right nationalist Adesh Joshi and his movement into winning the election to bring back the glory of India, while planning to spread its influence and Eradicate trans and non Muslim communities.
- Abandons all his members and Rana Singh to be killed by The Kid as he shows up with the Hijra’s while he hides away in the VIP room.
- When confronted by The Kid, Baba attempts to beg for mercy and hypocritically scolds him for acting with anger despite ruining his life and murdering his family. When The Kid simply asks Baba if he remembers any of their names, Baba doesn’t answer him and proceeds to stab him with a knife hidden under his sandals before cowardly attempting to beg for forgiveness before being brutally killed, however it’s possible that Baba’s stabbing fatally wounded the Kid, leaving his status unknown.
- Despite his claims of pacifism and that claims that he’s trying to keep India’s glory and purify it, his claims are ultimately self serving under his extreme bigotry and lust for power, hypocritically looking down at the poor and slaughtering villages just to expand his power.
