B.B. Hensley is the main antagonist of Max Payne, the 2008 film loosely based on the 2001 video game of the same name, who serves as the film counterpart of his original from the games.
B.B. is the former friend and mentor of Max Payne who once served as an officer of the NYPD before working for Aesir Corporation as the chief of its security. In reality, he is revealed to be the murderer of his wife Michelle and his daughter Rose, where he sent three Valkyr-induced junkies there to silence the former after uncovering documents regarding Valkyr's true purpose (akin to the first game itself). Due to this, he serves as the titular protagonist's arch-nemesis.
He is portrayed by Beau Bridges, who also played Clel Waller in NightJohn.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Murdered Max's wife Michelle and Max's daughter Rose, after the former uncovered the truth behind the Valkyr drug. This makes his villainy personal to Max, as he ultimately set the latter into a path of revenge into finding the murderers of both of them (not knowing that B.B. is behind it until later).
- Started the greater Valkyr drug trade by hiring Jack Lupino as his proxy to spread the drug across New York. The drug in itself is responsible for causing innocent people to be killed upon consuming it, as not only it induced hallucinations upon its victims, but it also causes them to be driven insane before committing suicide.
- Killed both Alex Balder and Natasha Sax (Mona Sax's sister), where Max would be framed for their murders. In the latter case, Mona would attempt to kill Max for supposedly being responsible behind her sister's death until it was revealed that it wasn't him who did it.
- Betrayed Max by ordering Joe to knock him out before attempting to drown him to the river with a dosage of Valkyr to make his death looked like a drug-covered suicide.
- Due to the movie being the adaptation of the first game only, the movie's Heinous Standards is significantly lower than in the game series, thus B.B. doesn't need to be compared by other villains including Vladimir Lem and Victor Branco.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the three Max Payne Pure Evils alongside Nicole Horne and Victor Branco.
- Fittingly enough, both Horne and B.B. are Pure Evils in opposite mediums. In the first game, Horne is Pure Evil while B.B. is not. But in the 2008 movie, it is the opposite where B.B. is Pure Evil while Horne is not.
