You've just made me a very rich woman.
~ Ava Lord's famous catchphrase.

Ava Lord is the titular main antagonist of the Sin City story A Dame to Kill For. She is a skilled liar who uses her looks and innocent facade as a way to manipulate men.

She was portrayed by Eva Green who also portrayed Miss Gribben in Cracks.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • She is a master manipulator who uses her beauty and charm to manipulate men into getting what she wants, putting on an innocent facade. She destroys the lives of numerous men and causes their deaths, taking sadistic pleasure in the damage she does.
  • She was in a relationship with Dwight McCarthy who despite his attraction to her, experience her evil and manipulative nature and came to hate her.
  • She manipulated Manute into serving her and made him believe that she was a goddess.
  • She met up with Dwight, pretending to be sorry and wanting his forgiveness, kissing him and attempting to seduce him. She pretends that Manute is keeping her prisoner and that he and her husband are abusive towards her, knowing Dwight will be worried about her and investigate.
  • When Dwight goes to the home of Ava's husband Damien Lord as she intended for him to do, she has him restrained by her men and badly beaten by Manute who throws him out of a car and leaves him in the road.
  • She goes Dwight's home and seduces him into sex, drawing him back in and making him love her again.
  • She has Manute show up to pretend he is forcibly taking her back to Damien to be punished. When Dwight tries to intervene, he is knocked through the window by Manute.
  • Her trickery leads to Dwight teaming up with Marv to rescue Ava. Ava causes Dwight and Marv to subdue the various security men and leads Marv to beating Manute and ripping out his eye.
  • Dwight confronts Damien and kills him as Ava intended so that she can gain his fortune, despite Damien actually being a caring husband and innocent man.
  • Ava taunts Dwight about having killed her innocent husband and reveals her plan to him, before shooting him repeatedly and seriously injuring him, nearly killing him.
  • She frames Dwight for breaking in and killing Damien, pretending to be distraught and traumatized by the whole ordeal and manipulating Mort, a detective, into believing she cares for him. Ava seduces Mort and completely destroys his life, making him fall in love with her and believe that she loves him back, causing him to leave his wife.
  • Mort is driven insane by Ava and kills his fellow detective, Bob, for speaking badly of Ava and trying to warn him about the type of person she really is. This also causes Mort to kill himself.
  • When she is confronted by Dwight who wants his revenge on her, she attempts to manipulate him again by shooting Manute multiple times and pretending that she loves him and wants to be with him.
  • Despite the high heinous standards, she stands out due to having far few resources compared to characters like Senator Roark and having a very personal cruelty to her crimes.
