My, you really are slow. Despite our best efforts, the enemy has only grown stronger. To succeed... we must adjust our strategy. Finally, the two of you can actually be of some use - for once in your lives!
~ Astor betraying the Yiga Clan.
So, here you all are... All of you despicable pests! I will crush you beneath my heel... That is... MY FATE!
~ Astor before sending Harbinger Ganon to attack Link and Zelda.

Astor is the secondary antagonist of the 2020 hack-and-slash video game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, a spin-off of the “Era of the Wilds” saga within The Legend of Zelda franchise.

He is a magical prophet who believes that he is destined to bring forth the return of Calamity Ganon and bring about the fall of Hyrule.

He is voiced by Jonathan Lipow.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He willingly allied himself with Calamity Ganon, knowing full well that his return would mean doom for Hyrule.
  • He manipulated the Yiga Clan into working for him and defeating Hyrule's combined armies.
  • In the EX Guardian of Remembrance DLC, he was not even phased when he sees his fellow cultists dead on the ground and completely disregards one of the members who implored him to stop the ritual immediately, proving that to him, absolutely everyone is nothing more than a tool to be used and later discarded or an enemy to be destroyed.
  • He made several attempts to kill Princess Zelda, both to eliminate her as a threat, and to prevent her sealing powers from surfacing.
  • He betrays and harvests the souls of numerous members of the Yiga Clan so he can resurrect the Blight Ganons, before attacking Master Kohga and Sooga with a Link Hollow, as well as having it presumably kill Sooga, after Terrako’s efforts in summoning the future counterparts of Champions Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa to aid them in keeping the Divine Beasts under Hyrule’s control along with additional help from Link and his comrades to take out the Blights. This action makes Kohga and the remaining Yiga Clan members forge an alliance with Zelda against him.
  • He lays siege to Hyrule Castle and has Calamity Ganon take control of it.
  • He attempts to kill Link, Zelda, the Champions, and the rest of Hyrule's combined armies.
    • What is worse is that some of these individuals are young; Link, Zelda, Mipha, Revali, and Yunobo are teenagers while Riju is only twelve years old.
  • He attempts to take control of Calamity Ganon and uses him to bring Hyrule's end. In response, Ganon instead engulfs his body with malice and uses it as an avatar for his "Malice Incarnate" form.
  • While Calamity Ganon, and Ganondorf do so much worse both in the old and new timelines, it does not make him fall short on the heinous standards since Astor stands out in his own right due to him having less resources than they did (with the former being nearly indestructible and the latter having a Secret Stone and control over Gloom) and regardless of whether Age of Calamity is canon or not, it would not have any affect on his status due to his exceptional display of cruelty he shows himself to be to others, even to his former allies and is willing to use them for his own gain at their expense.
