Earl Argleton, also known as the Chavi Slasher, is a minor antagonist of the 2021 anime series Moriarty the Patriot, adapting from the manga of the same name. He serves as the main antagonist of the series' first episode, "The Earl's Crimes". He is a British Earl living in London who in secret secretly preys on young boys for him to kill, with nearly all his victims being the sons of commoners he interacts with.
He was voiced by Masaki Terasoma in Japanese, and by Barry Yandell in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Is a complete sadist whose only motive for targeting children is that due to their lives still being developed, he takes pleasure in their fear and struggles to avoid getting them cut short.
- Using a corrupt constable, he has children abducted at night to slowly torture them to death, leaving their remains to the public to be discovered to bring despair to their parents. All his targets are the sons of the various commoner businessmen he interacts with frequently, from Eden's Tailors, Goldstein Jewellers, R. Masters Clock Smith, Morgan Bros. Company, and Shannon Racing Club.
- One of his victims hadn't even fit the memo. He just saw him playing concerts across the Gastros Club he founded and decided to simply target him just because he can, leading to his slow death, and is eyeing his friend who took over since his death.
- His crimes are so repulsive, they disgust fellow criminal, William James Moriarty, and when Argleton has a reason to believe he knows the truth, attempts to have him killed.
Trivia[]
- Out of all villains that count as Pure Evil from the series, he and Charles Augustus Milverton are the only ones to qualify from the anime adaptation.
- Argleton is seemingly a adaptation of fellow Pure Evil Charles Baskerville from the Manga, as both are child serial killers.
