Ares is a minor character in Clash of the Titans and the central antagonist of Wrath of the Titans.
He is the God of War, the son of Zeus, and the brother of Perseus. While initially a good god, he later became envious of his brother, betrayed Zeus and Perseus, and joined Kronos and Hades, and helping them kidnap Zeus and steal his life force to help Cronos escape Tartarus and conquer Earth. He blamed Perseus for stealing his father Zeus from him, while actually he himself was guilty of it. Unlike Hades, Ares didn't redeem himself.
He was portrayed by Tamer Hassan in Clash of the Titans and by Édgar Ramírez in Wrath of the Titans.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He initially started with many redeeming qualities but eventually lost them all after he betrayed his father and brother and joined Kronos.
- He became envious toward his brother Perseus, blaming him for stealing his father Zeus from him, and joined Kronos and Hades, attempting to release Kronos from Tartarus, which would result in him destroying the human race.
- He joined Kronos to keep his immortality, believing that Kronos won and betraying his father, brother, and all gods.
- He lured Zeus and Poseidon to Tartarus when Zeus summoned gods to help stop Kronos. He was pretending to help, while actually it was a trick.
- He ambushed Zeus and Poseidon with Hades and Makhai, mortally wounding Poseidon and trapping Zeus.
- He and Hades trapped Zeus in the rock, draining his life force from Kronos, weakening Zeus, and slowly killing him.
- He taunted and brutally beat Zeus while accusing him of betraying him and not loving him enough when, in actuality, he betrayed him.
- He ambushed Perseus' squad when Korrina prayed to him and murdered her, a couple of the others, and Hephaestus, even though sans Hephaestus, they were his human followers, and he knew where they were in the first place because Korrina prayed to him for help. He even coldly impaled her after she pleaded with him to show them mercy.
- When Perseus blamed him for betraying their father, Ares taunted Perseus, saying that their father had betrayed him by choosing Perseus.
- He brutally beat Perseus and tried to kill him.
- He killed Korrina, even if she prayed to him loyally and wished peace for him.
- He murdered Hephaestus when he tried to fight him, and he helped Perseus, Andromeda, and Agenor enter the Tartarus labyrinth.
- He attacked and tried to kill Hades when he changed sides and tried to save Zeus.
- He attacked and tried to kill Zeus and Perseus when they escaped, wounding Zeus with Poseidon's trident.
- When Perseus challenged him to a duel, he kidnapped Perseus' son Helius to make him watch how he would kill his father. He taunted Perseus by saying that he wanted to show Helius how someone stole his father.
- He brutally beat Perseus in front of his son.
- When Helius tried to stand up to him, he showed amusement and acted like he respected the boy's courage. However, it's likely just fake politeness, and his respect wasn't genuine since he didn't really see him as a true threat.
- Unlike Hades, Ares didn't redeem himself.
Trivia[]
- This is by far one of the evilest versions of Ares, having no redeeming qualities and being one of only two to be Pure Evil, along with his God of War video game version.
