As we purged the country, so now do we cleanse the globe. Listen closely...and hear the toll of doom as it chimes for humans worldwide. Hear the flatscans cry for a dream stolen as they drop their guard...to coddle false promises of hope and empty treaties of peace.
~ Apocalypse to his Horsemen.
All prisoners will be culled. Let the weak perish and the strong survive. This has always been the way of Apocalypse.
~ Apocalypse's overall philosophy.

En Sabah Nur, best known as Apocalypse, is the titular main antagonist in the Marvel Comics crossover, Age of Apocalypse. Much like his Earth-616 counterpart, he is a mutant supremacist who believes that the weak only exist to be slaughtered by the strong, and is the one responsible for turning the world into the war-torn hellscape it is now. He is also the omnicidal Holocaust's father.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • His ultimate goal is to nuke the entire planet and thus exterminate all traces of human existence, leaving only those with Homo superior (mutant) genes to survive.
  • He's responsible for turning Earth into the war-torn hellscape it is now by:
    • Waging genocide on humans and weaker mutants through what he calls "cullings", killing countless million (exceeding at least one billion) people.
    • Reducing large swaths of the planet into irradiated wastelands, and completely destroying Central America with nuclear bombing.
    • Operating labor camps where inmates are worked to death. Even worse, one of the wardens in said camps—Sugar Man—is known to molest his prisoners; particularly underage females like Blink and Magik.
    • Using breeding pens to produce his army of Infinites, prisoners implicitly forced to procreate before being killed and reborn by Dark Beast, which he does by tearing down their bodies for raw material before combining multiple at once.
      • Eventually, Apocalypse decided to "improve" his Infinites with cybernetic implants, which is portrayed as horrifyingly painful in-universe.
  • He's sadistic. During one of the aforementioned cullings, he personally bathed in the blood of Sunfire's people in Japan before drowning him almost to death in it, smiling the whole time. He also takes clear pleasure in torturing Magneto, and even decorated his throne room with hundreds of thousands of human skeletons.
  • He signed a peace treaty to halt genetic testing but allowed Dark Beast to continue to do so anyway, showing he has absolutely no honor whatsoever.
  • He kills Rictor for failing his objectives.
  • According to official AoA handbook, he brainwashed Mikhail Rasputin into serving him.
  • He tries to conquer the entire universe with the M'Kraan Crystal, not knowing that it would result in galactic omnicide instead.
  • Despite Earth-295 created from nexus event of Earth-616, and Earth-616 Apocalyse has a tragic past. Apocalypse backstory wasn't written until the end of Age of Apocalypse storyline 1 year later. So his 616 backstory shouldn't be consider to his 295 counterpart. It most likely that he's no longer care for his family or effect by his tragic past.
