Angelus is the original form of Angel and the main antagonist of the Buffyverse, acting as the overarching antagonist in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the main antagonist of Angel.
He was an Irish vampire known by many to be one of the most infamous and sadistic creatures to exist. However, after having a Romanian curse placed on him, he was turned into Angel as retribution for over a century of tyranny as a soulless vampire. Whenever Angel experiences true happiness, he loses his soul, thus reverting back to his original form. He is the archenemy of Buffy Summers.
He is first mentioned in season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer before debuting as the main antagonist of season 2 and is a flashback antagonist throughout the rest of the series. He returns in Angel as a minor antagonist in season 1, the overarching antagonist of seasons 2 and 3 and one of the two main antagonists of season 4.
As with his good counterpart, he was portrayed by David Boreanaz.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He killed Angel's whole family and slaughtered his entire village.
- He murdered and raped thousands of innocent people-many of which were children.
- He killed Daniel Holtz's family save for his young daughter who he instead sired, leaving a regretful Holtz to mercy kill her.
- He betrayed Darla to Holtz just to save himself.
- He tortured Drusilla into insanity, killing her whole family and finally siring her.
- He slept with Drusilla after Spike called her his one true love simply to torment him.
- Sired Penn which makes him partly responsible for all the atrocities committed by him such as his murder of his family.
- He psychologically abused Buffy, and mailed Willow a letter with a necklace made of her fish he killed-just to taunt them over the fact that he can come into their house because Angel was invited.
- Helped the Judge attempt to wipe out all of humanity.
- Killed and sired Buffy's classmate Theresa Klusmeyer as a way to torment her emotionally.
- He killed Jenny Calendar.
- Additionally, he taunted Rupert Giles, her boyfriend, over her death by leaving a trail of roses in his home from the living room all the way up to his bedroom, leaving him to find Jenny's corpse waiting for him.
- Tortured and killed Jenny's uncle.
- He bullied and antagonized a wheelchair bound Spike over his uselessness.
- He relentlessly targeted Buffy Summers and her friends climaxing in him sending Drusilla to kill Kendra, injure both Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg and kidnap Rupert Giles.
- He tried to torture Rupert Giles into insanity.
- He tried to kill Buffy when she's at her most vulnerable and alone.
- He tried to unleash a demon to send the entire world to Hell. As a result, Buffy is forced to sacrifice Angel to Hell once he's re-insouled.
- Mocked Connor over the deaths of Darla and Holtz and tried to make him think they killed themselves to get away from him.
- He tricked Faith Lehane into fighting and getting badly beaten by The Beast before killing the latter himself.
- He continued to make attempts on Faith's life, culminating in him biting and drinking from her.
- He tried to kill Angel and take over their body completely.
