Andrei Strasser is the main antagonist of the 1998 Disney film Mighty Joe Young, the remake of the 1949 film of the same name.
He is a ruthless Romanian poacher who murdered Joe's mother as well as Dr. Ruth Young, Jill Young's mother. However, in the process, Strasser loses his thumb and trigger finger after Joe bit him, and he swears revenge on the gorilla for the damage.
He was portrayed by Rade Šerbedžija.
What Makes Him Pure Evil ?
- Kills the mother of Joe while trying to catch the baby gorilla.
- Accidentally shoots and fatally wounds Jill's mother. While his henchman Garth wanted to help her, Strasser decided to leave her to die.
- Runs a game hunting preserve that acts as a front for him to butcher animals of endangered species and sell their parts on the black market.
- Has Garth annoy Joe so he goes on a rampage, endangering many people.
- Tries to shoot and kill Greg.
- Tries to shoot and kill Jill. This is enough for Garth to invoke standards and try to stop him.
- Does not have any excuses for his crimes other than greed and sadism.
- Shows no remorse or even shock/concern when a missed shot causes a fire to break out at a carnival and endanger many lives.
