He was portrayed by Christopher Abbott.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He was a ruthless military general with a record of disemboweling many enemy soldiers and sending amnesiac, shell-shocked men back into the fray, which he considered his entertainment.
- His abuse is even extended to his wife and servants as he scares them for his cruel entertainment, as shown when he called Allison for some soup and had his dog Rex scare her to drop the soup on her.
- This abuse towards his wife Victoria caused her to commit suicide by throwing herself in the bridge while pregnant with his baby, which leads to Godwin Baxter to find her and transplant the baby's brain onto Victoria's lifeless body, thus Bella Baxter was born.
- He had broken the arm of at least one of his servants, and intimated to Bella that he was prepared to gun his servants down should they ever attempt an uprising.
- He, alongside Duncan Wedderburn disrupted Bella's wedding with her fiancée Max McCandles, Godwin Baxter's student and protégé, as he explains Bella her true identity, believing that Victoria had amnesia, as he didn't know that Baxter transplanted their baby's brain into her. While he appeared as worried for his "wife", it wasn't genuine as he wanted his property back.
- He imprisoned Bella in his mansion, as he plans to drug her with chloroform poured into gin so that he can rip her genitals, so that he can rape her and have her reproduce his children.
- When Bella reveals the true reason why Victoria took her life, Alfie, unamused, pointed his gun towards Bella so she can drink the sedative. However Bella chucks the sedative back in his face, which causes him to shoot his foot.
- While his defeat and death were brutal, as he had his brain replaced with one of a goat, it was a well-deserved fate as he was an evil man with no remorse for what he has done.
- Unlike Duncan Wedderburn, who has comedic moments, Alfie is a serious threat as he is a military officer with a brutal background and his moments are to show how much of a monster Alfie truly is. Despite appearing in the climax of the film, it shows how much of a sadistic psychopath he is towards those around him.
Trivia[]
- He is the first and only villain from a Yorgos Lanthimos film to be Pure Evil.
