~ Ahk-Ton's last words to Black Adam. |
King Ahk-Ton is the overarching antagonist of the 2022 DC Extended Universe film Black Adam.
He was a ruthless warlord who, 5,000 years ago, became the monarch of Kahndaq when the city emerged as the first self-governing society across the globe. As a tyrannical oppressor, Ahk-Ton forced his subjects to work at Eternium mines restlessly so he could create the Crown of Sabbac, yet his slaves summoned Teth-Adam to put an end to his horrific rule.
He was portrayed by Marwan Kenzari, who also played Sabbac in the same film and Jafar in the live-action Aladdin remake.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Took over Kahndaq with his army, establishing himself as the city's tyrannical ruler and having his soldiers enforce his will.
- Decided to create the Crown of Sabbac with the power of Hell's six demon lords so he could use its dark magical properties to take over the world, feeling that limiting himself to a city wasn't enough power.
- Enslaved his subjects by forcing them to restlessly work in deplorable conditions at Kahndaq's mines for Eternium, one of the Crown's necessary materials, by falsely promising them a reward in exchange for their work.
- He would also have any disobedient subjects killed and thrown into a huge pit filled with the corpses of others.
- Ordered Hurut to be killed for inciting his fellow Kahndaqians into rebelling against his rule.
- Had Hurut's parents Teth-Adam and Shiruta executed, leading Hurut to transfer his powers into his father, turning him into Black Adam, just as Ahk-Ton sics his guards on Hurut, killing him and provoking Black Adam into killing them all in revenge.
- Cowardly offered Black Adam anything in exchange for being spared, proving how pathetic he really was when powerless. His death, while brutal, wasn't played for sympathy at all, as he completely deserved it for his horrific actions.
- His actions continue to haunt Black Adam to the present day, with his plans for the Crown of Sabbac eventually leading his descendant, Ishmael Gregor, to don the mantle of Sabbac and try to use the Crown to take over the world.
Trivia[]
- It's worth noting that Ahk-Ton’s death is similar to the last moments of the unrepentant Mr. Sivana from Shazam!, which, coincidentally, Black Adam is a spin-off of.
