~ Agent 23 revealing his true nature after being exposed as the double agent. |
Agent 23 is the main antagonist of the 2008 spy comedy film Get Smart, based on Mel Brooks and Buck Henry's television series of the same name.
He is known as one of the best agents of CONTROL as well as one of the friends of Agent Maxwell "Max" Smart. However, it later turns out that Agent 23's a traitor who works for KAOS, an organization that fought against CONTROL. He is the archenemy of Max and Agent 99.
He was portrayed by former WWE wrestler Dwayne Johnson, who also played The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Though initially introduced as seemingly the only CONTROL agent who is friends with Max and encourages him to pursue his dream of becoming an agent, this was all a ruse as he later betrayed Max to frame him for treason.
- He betrayed CONTROL and the United States to assist KAOS, facilitating an attack on CONTROL's headquarters and the theft of their field agents' info, resulting in the deaths of many agents.
- He was fully complicit in Siegfried's plan to assassinate the President of the United States with a nuclear device that would destroy Los Angeles and kill millions, carrying around the bomb's remote detonator in his briefcase, presumably to set it off himself in case the bomb's musical trigger failed.
- After Max exposed him, Agent 23 took 99 hostage, threatening to kill her if not let go, before later taunting 99, telling her he will kill her soon regardless.
- He attempted to kill Max with his bare hands in their final fight.
- Although some of his earlier cruel actions, like stapling papers to the head of an obnoxious coworker or breaking another agent's phone during a meeting, are played for laughs, his actual crimes are taken seriously, especially once his true colors are revealed and he becomes the film's final boss.
- While his defeat of Max getting him to release his choke-hold by kissing him is somewhat comedic, his actual death of him getting killed by an oncoming train while trapped in his SUV is a moment of triumph and catharsis, as it meant that everyone would be safe without him and Max could move on from the day that Agent 23 abused him on a regular basis.
