I watched the cartoon and proposed Argost for MB myself and he is absolutely one of the best parts of the cartoon. Almost every time he's onscreen he delivers witty and clever lines with him behaving like an average, ordinary gentleman and is also an absolute badass with using his cool and powerful Cryptid abilities to fight off the Saturdays. He also comes up with great schemes almost every appearance and the vocal performance by Corey Burton just enhances those qualities.

I’d say yes he is. While undeniably the worst in-scale alongside the obviously non-PE Count Bleck, I do find that the other canon Mario PE’s acts are more personally revolting and cruel compared to Dimentio.

*Princess Shroob drained dozens of toads and their life force to power up her own ship and tries to capture them all to do the same cycle, thus attempting genocide on them. She also tries to have Peach executed in front of crowds of her own kind with sadistic glee, she also turns Yoshis into Yoobs by being devoured alive and trued to have the creatures eat countless of other people to turn rhem into Yoobs, planned to murder a literal child in two equally horrible ways and doesn’t give a literal shit about her own sister, using her as her bodyguard/attack dog and not even bothering to move a finger to set her free from her prison the Cobalt Star.

*King Boo tries to trap dozens of people in a horrific fate: being stuck in a painting for all eternity out of petty grudge and also remorselessly abuses and sacrifices his own Boos to be captured by Luigi just because, he also experimented on them to force them into bein eternally loyal to him, he shattered the Dark Moon to drive the ghosts in Evershade Valley insane, tries to absorb countless inside the Last Resort in the third game just to capture Luigi and dismisses Hellen Gravely and her staff as worthless for failing to capture him and literally tried to end the universe when things didn’t went his own way.

*Shadow Queen has decimating a random city in what would eventually become Rogueport several years later in an attempt to destroy the entire world, sinking it underground and killing most residents inside of the city, cursed four heroes who imprisoned her with a horrific fate for centuries that managed to drive three of them insane, casted all those who she personally disliked into a pit o be tortured and killed by the monsters living there, unleashing dragons across the world and has them attack countless populations, corrupted Peach by possessing her, causing the world to shake and crumble terrorizing many different populations as the world gets covered in darkness nearly killed Grodus by vaporizing his body, tried to restart her destroying the world scheme and even succeeded in the bad ending, during the final battle she devoured the entire audience members when she was low on health, and never shows explicit proof she cares for her own minions.

All of these acts I find to be way more of a nasty touch than Dimentio and his villainy imo.
