If slashers with a kill count of seven could get removed, then Michael with only the original film could’ve gotten removed aswell. That’s just my view on the matter.
The reason modern slashers get cut is because slashers do worse nowadays. OG Myers is like... Hans Gruber. Not that bad by today's standards, but influenced a lot of worse villains, and therefore are heinous enough due to their profound effect on media.
That’s pretty fair. But it wasnt just Michael people forget Leatherface, I think he had a more profound impact:
I am pretty sure he still pass the baseline for slashers as he killed 5 people, which includes his sister, and attempted to kill 2 children at the end, and he also killed 2 dogs. The kills were also somewhat brutal, as he choked a girl to death after killing her boyfriend.
Yeah I know, but there are slashers that have done worse then that, and still got cut from the wiki.
@DoctorEvil45 I have seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I really don't think it's a slasher, as it's more of a group of friends who meets a crazy family type of movie.
Jason Voorhees and Ghostface took a lot of inspiration from Michael Myers and, overall, most mute slashers.
@DoctorEvil45 I think it was only one who got cut, and his kills weren't unique like Myers, and he didn't attempt to kill children to my knowledge.
I consider the Texas chainsaw massacre a slasher tbh
Here’s the definition.
”Slasher films are a genre of horror most popular from the late 50s to the early 90s, defined by its use of a generally masked killer harassing and murdering groups of people”.
Letherface checks all of the boxes
Destiny, in the first film what was unique about his kills he just stabbed and strangled people either with his bare hands or with a object like a phone cord. It really isn’t that bad if you think about it.
@DoctorEvil45 Still, Leatherface doesn't have the same impact and influence as Myers. Just because he's probably the first doesn't mean he's the most influential.
I am pretty sure that enough not every slasher needs to be the most brutal, especially for his time, and on top of that, he was written to be the human manifestation of evil.
What do you think?
