Who is Martin Vanger? Wasn't aware he existed. XD
He's from Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, specifically the first installment titled The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's a psychological thriller/mystery series that involves an antisocial, possibly sociopathic private investigator named Lisbeth Salander as she helps an investigative journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, in murder cases. Vanger is the main villain in the first one and based on what I read about him in the book as well as the 2011 film that Skarsgard portrays him in (unpopular opinion, this version is better than the 2009 Swedish version), he's quite possibly one of the most brutal and disturbing serial killers I've seen in anything. I recommend reading the series and watching both versions of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo if you are into crime novels or psychological thrillers, they're very well written and intriguing.
I know those books! My mother read them! I just thought Lisbeth Salander and her rapist were the only villains.
I'm pretty sure Vladimir is far more disturbing
Yeah, there are villains in the series other than her rapist. However, I don’t think I would call Lisbeth a villain, she’s more of an anti-hero who makes morally questionable decisions to solve her cases, similar to L in Death Note.
@X9 The Android My mother has read them too, and we're both fans of Stellan Skarsgård.
Awesome, pals!
The Baron somewhat represents some of the most despicable people like dictators, politicians or other types of famous influential people (Lavrentiy Beria, Jeffrey Epstein, Kevin Spacey or Harvey Weinstein for horrible examples) who have power and influence to do whatever they desire, even having raping young children to satisfy their perversions and lust.
Martin is a brutal and cold-blooded serial killer who is similar to the Baron by having money and influence, which he uses to finance his personal hobbies of kidnapping, torturing, raping and killing women in his basement.
Both concepts have very serious basis on reality, each of them is disturbing in their own ways.
