At least Claude's death implied he simply fell to his death, which would be quick. Hyenas though are known for eating their prey while still alive, and the cubs eat first. Meaning Scar would have been alive for most of it.

Also, Hyenas bites are insanely strong, And have loads of bacteria, meaning there is going to be a LOT of pain
