What is the work?
The Resurrection of Rose is a 2019 sequel fanfic to the film adaptation of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, the sequel to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.
Who is she?
Rose the Hat is the main antagonist of the film and the archenemy of Danny Torrance and Abra Stone. In the film, she was destroyed when the ghosts of the Overlook Hotel drain her of steam. Here, she was brought back to life and now only lives to make Abra suffer.
What has she done?
Upon being revived by a group of True Knots, she slaughters the leader as well as a few others leaving behind Scrappy Meg and Lester. They learn of a human trafficking organization led by Aldrich that specializes in distributing kids that have the Shine to different True Knots.
While residing in the factory, Rose creates a device that she can use it to drive the True Knots into mindless, raging beasts she would send to Abra's town. She does this by intentionally depriving True Knots of acquiring steam.
She murders dozens of children in machines meant to torture them so their steam would be especially rich. She then tests her device on a group of True Knots causing them to kill each other.
When Aldrich opposes her for her actions, she repeatedly shoots him with a gun until he was a pile of ash. She then heads to the site that used to be the Overlook Hotel to resurrect the entity possessing the building.
When the Overlook agrees to help Rose in her revenge, she remorselessly feeds it Lester. After the Overlook possesses Abra and causes her to kill her own mother, Rose mocks the horrified girl.
After this, she unleashes the homicidal True Knots onto Abra's hometown relishing in the slaughter and chaos they wrought.
She is an ultimately terrible boss who kills some True Knots when one informed her that they had to call off the invasion since some of the True Knots contracted smallpox. Despite professing to love Crow Daddy, here, she carelessly fires dark magic at him without consideration he could get hurt and verbally abuses him. She even murders him in coldblood when he teams up with Abra and Danny to stop her.
As one final act of spite, Rose and the Overlook create a huge black hole that would bleed into all worlds in the Stephen King verse and destroy them because she was enraged that she was defeated by Abra in each one.
Mitigating factors? Freudian Excuse?
Her redeeming/mitigating qualities in the film such as loving her fellow True Knots? Gone and in its place is an urge of insatiable vengeance. She abuses her True Knots and even experiments on them without a second thought and becomes a domestic abuser towards Crow Daddy.
Heinous standard
Sets the standard. Dozens of deaths and torture on her hands from her creating machines designed to drain children of their Shine and casually torturing Snakebite Andi while interrogating her.
